TIMESINDONESIA, TRENGGALEK – Alen-alen is an ethnical snack of Trenggalek. It's made of cassava and taste a bit hard and crunchy. Lots of people will look for this snack for souvenir once they visit the city.
It's made of tapioca flour, coconut milk and turmeric for the yellow color. Long ago, the local community will made it traditionally using their very own hand to shape each of alen-alen.
But now, as the modernity came upon them, they turned the traditional way into machine that surely work more effectively. Almost every house in Trenggalek produce this snack for it has millions of fans around the country.
"The customers usually came from out of town such as Surabaya, Blitar, Malang, and many more," Nova, one of the owner of Alen-alen shop in Trenggalek said.
This snack has a strong taste and spicy. For some people it will taste a bit salty but overall alen-alen could be one perfect present for you when you visit the local community of Trenggalek and nobody will say no to it. (*)
