Boss accidentally transforms into potato during videoconference - New York Post

Fortunately, no one was sacked over the mishap.

A company videoconference went hilariously awry after its boss accidentally transformed herself into a potato due to a filter mishap and couldn’t undo it, much to the amusement of her colleagues.

A tweet chronicling her inadvertent makeover has racked up almost 697K likes and over 161K retweets since Monday morning.

“My boss turned herself into a potato on our Microsoft teams meeting and can’t figure out how to turn the setting off,” reads the viral tweet by Rach Clegg. Indeed, her boss Lizet Ocampo, the political director at People for the American Way, can be seen in an accompanying pic looking like a tater with eyes and a mouth.

As a result of her inability to nip the problem in the spud, Ocampo “was stuck like this the entire meeting,” Clegg, a political associate at the organization, tweeted.

The uproarious incident provided much-needed laughter during the coronavirus pandemic, which has forced companies across the country to conduct their business via video call.

But the potato head honcho seems to be taking her filter folly in stride: “I yam potato boss. You should see me in a crown, right @billieeilish?” she tweeted. “I yam glad this is making folks laugh at this time. Please stay planted at home and safe! For more needed laughs, follow my favorite comedian @cristela9 Potate out.”

Clegg responded with some potato puns of her own, “The good news is that my boss, Lizet Ocampo, will not be sacking me tomorrow. We hashed it all out tonight and our team is still laughing with you all. STAY PLANTED AT HOME & welcome my potato boss @mlizetocampo to the twitterverse.”

The Twitterati were quick to offer their tater thoughts on the mishap. “How can you do that?! I want to try to turn into a potato tomorrow for my next Team call!” inquired one social-media comedian.

Another was impressed by Ocampo’s ability to maintain her composure throughout the ordeal: “I want to congratulate her colleagues that could keep running this meeting under this situation. It would be impossible for me.”

Even Microsoft chimed in: “TOO FUNNY.”

This isn’t the first time misuse of social-media filters has led to on-screen hijinks. An Italian priest garnered online guffaws last week after accidentally leaving his Facebook filters on while livestreaming a Catholic Mass, resulting in him getting digitally outfitted with cartoon wizard hats, helmets and more.

In February, a North Carolina TV reporter made a similar mistake while giving a weather report in an incident that he says “still makes him laugh.”
