In times like these, it’s important to find joy anywhere you can. Whether that’s by watching live feeds of adorable animals, making bread in your slow cooker or getting stuck into the musical genius that is Matt Lucas.
The new Great British Bake Off presenter has taken to Twitter to share a song about baked potatoes and staying safe during the Coronavirus lockdown. And not only is it fun, but it’s also very informative. And you just can’t argue with that combination.
The Little Britain star reminds us that we should be washing our hands, staying at home and avoiding touching our faces. Well, technically his baked potato friend is telling him to tell us to do all those things.

Just go with it.
Matt’s potato song has made everyone’s day on social media, so we’re hoping his next track will be about the ease of batch cooking, and his teacher for that one will be a block of Cheddar.
A few weeks ago, it was announced that Matt will take over from Sandi Toksvig as the Bake Off co-presenter alongside Noel Fielding.
He said at the time of the announcement: “I’m chuffed to bits to be joining the most delicious show on television. I can’t wait to break bread with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the brilliant bakers. And bearing in mind my love of cake, I’ve already ordered some much larger trousers in anticipation. See you in the tent!”
After hearing his baked potato song, we can’t even start to imagine the bonkers stuff him and Noel will be getting up to when GBBO returns later this year.
