Does sleeping in a potato sound a-peel-ing?
The Idaho Potato Commission built a 6-ton potato to celebrate it’s 75th anniversary in 2012. The spud is 28-feet long, 12-feet wide, and 11.5 feet tall.
The massive potato was bolted to a flatbed truck to tour the United States for 7 years before returning to Idaho to retire.
IPC then had to decide what to do with the potato.
Kristie Wolfe, a former staff member of the Big Idaho Potato Truck Tour, had a vision for the ‘tater.
She flipped the potato into an eco-friendly tiny home to rent out to guests visiting Idaho.
The tuber is now planted in a field in South Boise where the Owyhee Mountains are visible. The Airbnb potato has electricity and water. The restroom is located in a recycled silo just a few steps away from the home.
