- Attorneys for Carl Hammerberg, who was found guilty this week in Duluth District Court on a charge of riot, may ask for a new trial. The state's case against Hammerberg was based principally on a statement the defendant made to a deputy sheriff.
- Duluth City Clerk Fred Ash said yesterday it has not become necessary so far to call upon women to act as judges in the next election. Mr. Ash said every district has had at least one current judge who has agreed to work.
- Ten counties have committed to entering the county competition at the Minnesota Potato Show to be held at the Duluth Armory on Nov. 8-10. Counties competing are Itasca, Lake, Carlton, Beltrami, Kittson, Hubbard, Clay, Kanabec, Morrison, and St. Louis.
- A large enrollment is anticipated for Duluth's night school term, which will open tomorrow night at Lincoln School. Citizenship courses as well as courses in the building trades and commercial subjects will be offered at Denfeld, Morgan Park, Lincoln, and Washington schools.
