AHDB released it's Potato Weekly. New restrictions introduced within UK that came into force on Thursday have sparked anxiety that there could be a strangulation of demand within some sectors of the industry.
With confidence muted, procurement for potatoes is on a weekly basis as people sit tight to see how these new measures affect demand.
At the moment demand and prices have been relatively flat, not changing much from last week.
With precipitation expected across the British Isles growers continue lifting. Many are lifting into store due to the depressed market.

Packing
Packing demand is similar to last week, with the majority of retail fulfilled on contract. Maris Piper is reported to have been fetching a premium over regular whites. There have been some anecdotal reports of minor damage and bruising to potatoes being lifted.
Bags
Orders remain the same for last week. Although there are anxieties that latest lockdown measures will cause people to purchase week-to-week to ensure zero waste.
Processing
Majority of processing trade this week has been fulfilled on contract.
Exports
There has been a flurry of exports this week to Belgium, Ireland and the Canary Islands.
Export demand to the Canaries is strong with King Edwards in high demand on the island.
