“What is striking is that the American season starts a little later, so that we are already fully focusing on Thanksgiving sales at the local supermarkets in the US. This allows us to fully focus on that to make it a success and then continue with export sales," said Nick. "However, the local market is still very strong and is higher than the export market. which is a bit unusual and not something you often experience at the start of the season. We are currently filling our European programs mainly from our Spanish cultivation, supply from Egypt and first new harvest from USA. "
Average yield
"Our American crop from Battleboro Produce is good and we do not expect any problems with this compared to last year and we will once again be able to supply North American sweet potatoes all year round, both locally of course and also in Europe. The yield per acre is average judging by what we've seen so far, which is a good sign,” continues Nick. "On the other hand, Egypt is now slowly approaching the end of the season, although there is still enough available, the quality is not always optimal anymore. This is followed by Spain which is remarkably late for the time of the year."
